23 Nobel economists warned Trump's agenda would mean higher prices and bigger deficits
More than half of living U.S.-based economics laureates signed a 2024 letter calling his tariffs and tax plans counterproductive.
In an open letter organized by Joseph Stiglitz, 23 Nobel laureates in economics, including two of the three most recent winners, wrote that Trump's high tariffs and regressive tax cuts would lead to higher prices, larger deficits and greater inequality, and that his threats to the rule of law endangered economic stability. The letter endorsed Kamala Harris's agenda as vastly superior.
